Paprika Chicken Skewers
Description
Paprika Chicken Skewers are made by marinating bite-sized chicken breast pieces in a mixture of olive oil, smoked paprika, crushed garlic, red wine vinegar, and chili powder, infusing the meat with smoky and slightly spicy notes. After marinating at least two hours, the chicken is threaded onto skewers and grilled or cooked on a griddle pan until browned and cooked through.
The accompanying dip combines aioli with lemon juice and smoked paprika, offering a creamy, tangy complement that enhances the chicken’s flavors. Cooking on skewers promotes even cooking and helps keep the chicken moist inside while developing a flavorful exterior crust.
Serving the skewers with the dip provides balance to the smoky heat and allows for a shareable presentation. These skewers work well as appetizers or a main course when paired with sides.
Marinating longer up to 24 hours deepens the flavor. They can be cooked by alternate methods including grilling, broiling, or oven baking, adjusting times accordingly. Using quality smoked paprika greatly impacts the smoky flavor character.
Ingredients
For the chicken
- 300 g chicken breast cut into 1 inch chunks
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 garlic crushed, clove
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 0.5 teaspoon chilli powder
For the dip
- 50 g aioli
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Put the chunks of chicken in a bowl
- Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Put in the refrigerator for 2 hours
- Thread the marinated chicken onto pre-soaked wooden skewers
- Heat some oil in a griddle pan and cook the chicken skewers for 4 minutes on each side
- Mix the dip ingredients together and serve in a bowl with the cooked chicken skewers
Notes
- Marinate the chicken for at least 4 hours, up to 24 hours for deeper flavor.
- Use high-quality smoked paprika for noticeable smoky flavor.
- The chili powder adds mild heat; omit or adjust to taste.
- Cook on a griddle, grill, oven, or under a broiler, adjusting time as needed.
- Mini skewers are great for sharing; larger chunks can be threaded onto bigger skewers for a hearty portion.
