Parmesan Crusted Potatoes

Parmesan Crusted Potatoes are halved small potatoes baked in melted butter topped with a generous coating of Parmesan cheese and seasonings. The result is tender potatoes with a flavorful, slightly crispy cheese crust that sticks after cooling. This recipe works well as a side dish served with dips like sour cream or ranch dressing.

Description

In Parmesan Crusted Potatoes, whole small russet or yellow potatoes are scrubbed and cut in half to expose flats that will crisp against a butter-coated baking dish. Butter is melted and spread evenly over the pan to coat the potatoes, then a generous layer of grated Parmesan cheese is sprinkled on top along with garlic powder and any other preferred seasonings. The potato halves are placed cut-side down on the butter and cheese mixture before baking at 400°F.

The baking time of 40 to 45 minutes allows the potatoes to become tender inside while developing a golden, flavorful crust on the bottom where the Parmesan cheese crisps up. It’s important to let the potatoes cool for a full five minutes before removing them from the pan to allow the cheese crust to set and prevent sticking.

These potatoes are best served warm with a side of sour cream or ranch for dipping. Their rich, buttery flavor and crispy cheese coating complement a variety of meals from roasted meats to casual dinners.
