Peach Sweet Tea
Description
This Peach Sweet Tea is made by steeping black tea bags in boiling water, then combining the brewed tea with a homemade simple syrup—a solution of equal parts sugar and water boiled and cooled—to sweeten the drink evenly. Pureed canned peaches add natural fruit flavor and body to the tea. Cold water dilutes the mixture to an enjoyable drinking temperature and strength. The tea is chilled before serving to maximize refreshment.
The sweetness level and peach flavor can be adjusted by modifying the amount of simple syrup and peach puree used. Serving over ice with additional peach slices and fresh mint leaves adds visual appeal and slight texture variation. This tea works well as a cooling refreshment for warm days or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
- 5-6 tea I use Lipton, regular, in tea bags
- 1 quart water
- 1 peaches in juice, pureed, 15 oz can
- 1 quart water cold
Simple Syrup:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar granulated white
Instructions
- Boil one quart of water in a large pot. Add tea bags and steep for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bags and discard.
- While tea is steeping, prepare simple syrup: in a separate small saucepan, combine one cup of water and one cup of sugar and bring to a boil. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Pour simple syrup into pot with tea and stir. In a heat-safe pitcher, combine the tea with pureed peaches, and one quart of cold water. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- Serve tea over ice with fresh mint and peach slices if desired. Enjoy!
