Peaches and Cream Oatmeal

Peaches and Cream Oatmeal features rolled oats cooked with fresh peach, vanilla, and cinnamon, creating a creamy porridge accented with natural sweetness and warmth from spices. Topped with coconut sugar, more fresh peach, oat milk, and sliced almonds, this dish offers a balanced texture with softness from the oats and crunch from almonds, making it a comforting breakfast choice with gentle fruity notes.

Description

This recipe combines rolled oats and water with chopped fresh peach, vanilla extract, and cinnamon, simmered on the stove until the oats absorb liquid and become creamy. The peach adds a subtle fruitiness while the vanilla and cinnamon provide warmth and depth without overpowering the oats. After cooking, the oatmeal is served in a bowl and finished with a sprinkle of coconut sugar for mild sweetness, additional diced peach pieces, a splash of oat milk for creaminess, and sliced almonds for a crunchy contrast.

The gentle simmering melds flavors and softens the oats while preserving peach texture and sweetness. The use of oat milk complements the oats' natural creaminess and maintains a dairy-free profile. This oatmeal is best enjoyed warm and can be adapted with frozen or canned peaches by measuring about ½ cup if fresh peaches are unavailable, ensuring consistent flavor and texture.

This dish suits a satisfying and mild breakfast where fruit and warm spices brighten a classic oatmeal base. The combination of creamy oats and vibrant peach pieces makes it adaptable to various nutritional preferences.

Ingredients

Servings
  • ½ cup rolled oats old fashioned
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 peach chopped, divided
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon coconut sugar
  • cup oat milk
  • 1 Tablespoon almonds sliced

Instructions

  1. Add oats, water, 1/2 chopped peach, vanilla and cinnamon to a pot or saucepan over medium/high heat.
  2. Bring mixture to a low boil, reduce heat to a low simmer and continue to cook for about 5-7 minutes; stirring occasionally. Oatmeal is ready when the oats have soaked up most of the liquid and are creamy.
  3. Transfer to a bowl and top with coconut sugar, more chopped peaches, oat milk and sliced almonds.

Notes

  • If fresh peaches are unavailable, use about 1/2 cup of frozen or canned chopped peaches for similar flavor.
