Pepperoni Pull Apart Bread

Pepperoni Pull Apart Bread features a sourdough loaf sliced into diamond-shaped pieces filled with pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. A seasoned butter and Parmesan mixture is brushed throughout to infuse each bite with rich, savory flavor and a tender, buttery crumb. Baking it covered ensures the cheese melts perfectly for a gooey, indulgent appetizer or snack, easy to prepare ahead and reheat.

Description

The Pepperoni Pull Apart Bread recipe begins with a sourdough loaf carefully cut into 1-inch diamonds without slicing all the way through. The cuts create slots that are generously brushed with a mixture of melted butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and thyme, imparting deep savory notes and moisture. Pepperoni and shredded mozzarella are stuffed throughout and extra cheese is sprinkled on top before baking covered in foil. The heat melts the cheese evenly, while the bread stays soft with flavorful pockets in every piece. This dish offers a satisfying combination of crisp edges from the bread and gooey, cheesy, meaty filling. It serves well immediately out of the oven as a hearty appetizer or snack to share. The method of cutting the bread diagonally creates a pull-apart effect that’s both fun and practical for serving.

For convenience, the assembled but unbaked bread can be refrigerated beforehand, then brought to room temperature and baked when ready. This flexibility suits busy cooking schedules and helps keep the cheese fresh. The recipe recommends topping with chopped parsley for a fresh, colorful finish.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Shredded
  • 6 tbsp butter Melted, unsalted
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp thyme dried
  • 1 loaf sourdough bread
  • 1 cup pepperoni

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. In a bowl, whisk Parmesan cheese, melted butter, garlic powder and thyme together. Set aside.
  3. Place the bread loaf on a board. Using bread knife cut the bread on a diagonal into 1 inch diamonds but don't cut all the way through the bread.
  4. Pry open each crack and brush with the melted butter and Parmesan mixture. Make sure you brush all the bread.
  5. Stuff the bread with pepperoni. Make sure you use pepperoni in every slot.
  6. Stuff the bread with mozzarella cheese. Top with some more mozzarella.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is fully melted.
  8. Top with some chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Prepare the loaf fully in advance, but avoid baking until needed; keep wrapped in foil refrigerated.
  • Allow the bread to come to room temperature before baking to ensure even cooking.
  • Serve the bread hot from the oven to enjoy melted cheese at its best.
