Perfect Baked Potato
Description
This recipe for Perfect Baked Potato starts by scrubbing russet potatoes clean and drying them thoroughly. Each potato is pricked multiple times with a fork to allow steam release. The skins are coated with olive oil and kosher salt for crispness and flavor during baking. Potatoes are placed on a rack or baking sheet spaced apart and baked at 425°F for 45-60 minutes depending on size, until easily pierced by a fork and reaching 210°F internally.
The finished potatoes have a crisp, lightly salted skin and a fluffy interior. Cutting a slit and pushing the sides opens the potato for melting butter and seasoning, with black pepper optional. This method highlights the simple, hearty qualities of baked potatoes without added complexity.
These baked potatoes can be served alongside a variety of mains or topped with additional ingredients such as cheese, sour cream, or chives to customize the flavor and texture experience.

- To serve, use a knife to cut a slit down the center of your potato (don’t cut all the way through) and push in the sides of the potato to open up the potato and fluff the center.
