Peri Peri Sauce Recipe

Peri Peri Sauce is a vibrant, spicy blend made primarily from red chili peppers and garlic, combined with fresh herbs like cilantro and oregano, finished with olive oil and lemon juice. It creates a smooth, flavorful sauce that adds heat and zest to grilled meats and vegetables. The traditional use of African Bird’s Eye peppers gives an authentic sharpness, but adaptable chili varieties can be used depending on availability.

Description

This Peri Peri Sauce Recipe centers on blending chopped red chili peppers with garlic cloves, smoked paprika, fresh cilantro, oregano, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt until smooth. The combination results in a fiery and aromatic sauce with a bright acidity from the lemon juice. Adjusting the type of chili peppers and the amount can vary the heat to suit personal taste.

The sauce’s texture is smooth and variable depending on blending time, suitable as a marinade, condiment, or dipping sauce. The smoky paprika adds depth, while fresh herbs contribute brightness. Olive oil binds the flavors and provides a rich mouthfeel.

Peri Peri Sauce is versatile, enhancing grilled chicken, seafood, vegetables, or sandwiches. It also keeps refrigerated, allowing the flavors to meld over time.

The recipe yields approximately 1.5 cups of sauce, suitable for multiple uses. Refrigerate after preparation and use within a week for best freshness.
