Pesto Pasta with Tuna

Pesto Pasta with Tuna combines al dente spaghetti with a sauté of onions, garlic, canned tuna, and mushrooms all enveloped in a basil pesto sauce. The result is a flavorful pasta dish where the richness of tuna and the earthiness of mushrooms complement the herbaceous pesto. Parmesan cheese adds a savory finish, creating a balanced meal suitable for lunch or dinner.

Description

Pesto Pasta with Tuna uses dry spaghetti cooked just until al dente, then combined in a skillet with sautéed onions and garlic for a mild aromatic base. Canned tuna including its oil is stirred in for a rich seafood element, and mushrooms add texture and earthiness. Basil pesto sauce brings an herbal, garlicky layer that coats each pasta strand evenly. The dish is finished with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for added umami and saltiness.

The tuna and mushroom mixture is cooked briefly to meld flavors without overcooking, maintaining a tender bite in the ingredients. This dish can be served as a standalone main pasta meal, ideal for those looking for a protein-enhanced vegetarian pasta alternative. Its combination of familiar pantry ingredients makes it a practical and satisfying choice.

Simply toss the hot pasta with the pesto-tuna mixture to warm through evenly. Adjust seasoning with black pepper and salt as needed before serving. Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top adds a creamy touch that contrasts the fresh pesto flavor.
