Philly Cheesesteak Casserole (The Very Best)

This Philly Cheesesteak Casserole uses ground beef seasoned with salt and pepper, cooked with diced onions and bell peppers. Cream cheese is stirred in before topping with provolone slices and baking until melted and golden, capturing the flavor of a classic cheesesteak in casserole form.

Description

The Philly Cheesesteak Casserole begins by browning ground beef in a skillet, seasoning simply with salt and black pepper. Diced green and red bell peppers and onions are added to the beef, sautéed until softened, combining their sweetness with the meat's savory flavor.

Cream cheese is stirred in at the end of cooking, enriching the mixture and binding the ingredients. The mixture is then topped with provolone cheese slices arranged evenly, which melt under brief baking at 350°F to create a gooey, golden topping that imitates the melted cheese of a traditional Philly cheesesteak.

This casserole offers an easy way to enjoy the hallmark flavors of a cheesesteak sandwich without assembling individual sandwiches. It can be served with bread or on its own as a hearty main dish.
