Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls
Description
This recipe adapts the flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak into a handheld egg roll format. Thin strips of flank or ribeye beef are cooked to a golden brown and combined with softened onions and green bell peppers. Provolone cheese slices add a creamy, melted layer inside the rolls.
The filling is assembled by layering cheese, beef, and vegetables on egg roll wrappers, which are then wrapped tightly and deep-fried at 350°F until all sides achieve a golden crisp texture. The frying process delivers a crunchy exterior that contrasts with the savory, melty filling.
These egg rolls make flavorful appetizers or snacks and pair well with dipping sauces or as party finger foods.

- 2 tbsp neutral cooking oil avocado or olive, generic cooking oil
- 1 onion chopped, large
- 1 green bell pepper chopped, large
- 1 tbsp salt adjust to taste

- 8 lices provolone cheese

Instructions

- On a clean work surface, place a couple of egg roll wrappers down. Top each with 1/3 slice of provolone in the center, followed by a bit of the veggie and meat filling.
- Wrap the egg rolls according to the package instructions.
- Preheat a deep pan with oil to 350°F. Fry a few egg rolls at a time until they are golden brown on all sides. Remove the egg rolls from the oil and lay them on a stack of paper towels to drain the excess grease.
