Pickle Lovers' Puff Pastry Pizza with Hot Honey

Pickle Lovers' Puff Pastry Pizza combines golden, flaky puff pastry with a tangy ranch sour cream base, sharp cheddar cheese, and crisp dill pickle chips. Finished with fresh chives and drizzled hot honey, it balances savory, tangy, cheesy, and sweet flavors with varied textures in a quick baked treat.

Description

This recipe starts with a sheet of puff pastry that is pricked to prevent bubbling and baked with a seasoned sour cream ranch spread. The sharp cheddar cheese adds richness and melts over the pastry, complementing the tangy, crunchy dill pickle chips arranged on top. The edges are brushed with an egg wash, helping the crust achieve a golden, glossy finish.

The baking process takes 20 to 25 minutes at a high temperature, puffing the pastry into a light, flaky base with a crisp crust. After baking, a sprinkle of fresh chives adds a mild onion-like freshness, while a drizzle of hot honey introduces gentle heat and balanced sweetness, enhancing the pickle's tang.

This pizza style appetizer or snack offers a unique combination of texture and flavor, highlighting the boldness of pickles paired with rich cheese and the subtle sweetness of hot honey.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 puff pastry thawed if frozen, sheet
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons ranch seasoning
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese freshly grated, sharp
  • ¾ cup dill pickles chips, patted dry with a paper towel
  • 1 egg beaten together for egg wash, plus 1 teaspoon water
  • chives for sprinkling, fresh
  • hot honey for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet.
  2. Lay the sheet of puff pastry on the parchment. Poke it all over with a fork - this helps it to stop bubbling up.
  3. Stir together the sour cream and ranch seasoning. Spread it all over the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust. Sprinkle the cheddar all over the top. Layer on the pickle chips. Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash.
  4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the puff pastry is golden and puffed up.
  5. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chives. Drizzle on the hot honey. Slice and serve!
