Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 package mini cocktail smokies 48 in pkg
  • 2 cans crescent rolls Pillsbury brand
  • 1 egg beaten
  • sesame seeds and/or poppy seeds
  • 1 tablespoon salt optional, coarse

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the dough: Open both cans of crescent rolls (do not roll them out). Cut into 1 inch strips and unroll, then cut into 4 pieces.
  3. Wrap the smokies: Wrap each smokie in dough and place on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each roll with egg wash and top with salt, sesame seeds and/or poppy seeds.
  4. Bake: Transfer to the oven and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Serve warm with mustard or ketchup.

Notes

  • Make ahead - you can make these in advance and store in the fridge! If you are storing them longer than overnight - you can make them, freeze on trays and then store in freezer bags for up to a month! Easy snacks ready to be baked and served hot at anytime! No need to let them thaw before baking, just allow for a slightly longer baking time.
  • If you can't find mini cocktail smokies, you can use different types of sausage or hot dogs. Use your favorite sausage, such as a chicken sausage, andouille or even smoked sausages.
  • All leftovers should be stored in an airtight container or wrapped in foil/cling wrap (tightly) in the fridge for up to a week! Again, you can freeze these little pigs for up to a month if you want to keep them longer
  • You can heat refrigerated pigs in a blanket by microwaving them, placing them in a crockpot on warm for 20-30 minutes, or you can reheat them in the oven.  If using the oven, place them on a baking sheet at 350℉ and bake for 8-10 minutes.
