Pigs in a Blanket

Pigs in a Blanket are bite-sized snacks made by wrapping cocktail wieners in crescent roll dough, then baking until golden and flaky. Brushed with melted butter and optionally topped with sesame or poppy seeds, these savory bites have a soft, buttery crust and juicy sausage center. They make easy appetizers or party finger food that can be prepared quickly.

Description

This recipe calls for unrolling crescent roll dough and cutting the triangles into thirds lengthwise. Each cocktail wiener is wrapped starting from the thicker end of the dough triangle and rolled toward the thinner end, then placed on a baking sheet. The tops are brushed with melted butter and can be garnished with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or chopped parsley before baking at 375°F until golden. The result is a flaky, slightly crispy pastry encasing a savory sausage.

These pigs in a blanket can be served warm right after baking as snacks or appetizers. Their small, uniform size makes them convenient for serving at gatherings or casual meals.

If mini hot dogs are unavailable, larger hot dogs cut into pieces can be used. Using a pizza cutter helps in cutting the dough into even strips for uniform wrapping. Wrapping from thick to thin dough creates a neat layered appearance.
