Pimento Cheese
Description
The preparation blends multiple cheeses—cream cheese for creaminess, cheddar for sharpness, pepper jack for mild heat, and Gruyere for nuttiness. Mayonnaise wets the mixture smoothly while Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice add depth and brightness. Chopped pimentos provide sweetness and a subtle pepper flavor.
This cheese spread is versatile enough to be served cold as a dip with crackers or to elevate sandwiches with a rich, cheesy layer. Optional garnishes like crumbled bacon, sliced green onions, or toasted nuts lend an added crunch or savory accent. The mixture is stirred gently to combine ingredients evenly.
For storage, the cheese spread keeps well refrigerated for up to ten days but should not be left out at room temperature for more than two hours due to the mayonnaise content. Freezing is not recommended as it affects texture and flavor. It is best enjoyed fresh or within a short timeframe.
