Pimento Cheese Sandwich Recipe
Description
The recipe creates a spread by gently stirring sharp white and yellow cheddar cheeses with softened cream cheese and diced jarred pimentos. Mayonnaise adds creaminess and moisture, while Worcestershire sauce and optional minced garlic deepen the savory profile. Cayenne and black pepper provide mild heat and spice, which can be adjusted with paprika for a milder version. After blending these ingredients until uniform, the mixture is spread evenly between slices of white bread, then cut into triangles or smaller squares for serving. The sandwich’s flavor integrates sharp cheddar tang, creamy texture, and a subtle spicy kick, balanced with slight acidity and sweetness from pimentos.
This sandwich can be refrigerated for at least an hour before serving to allow flavors to meld. It can also be assembled ahead and kept chilled until ready to eat. Wrapping sandwiches in colored paper or napkins is a traditional presentation style, notably at events like the Masters Tournament where this sandwich is a classic offering.
