Pineapple Curry

This Pineapple Curry blends crushed pineapple with aromatic spices like curry powder, cumin, turmeric, and paprika to create a mildly spiced, creamy sauce. The dish features sautéed onions and garlic cooked with pineapple before simmering in milk and pineapple juice until thickened. Often served over rice, it balances sweet pineapple flavors with warm spices for a satisfying meal.

Description

Pineapple Curry combines crushed pineapple with a blend of spices including curry powder, cumin, turmeric, paprika, and black pepper. The base of sautéed onion, garlic, and pineapple provides sweetness and depth. Adding milk and reserved pineapple juice creates a creamy, slightly sweet sauce that thickens gently over about 10 minutes of simmering. The all-purpose flour helps achieve the desired sauce consistency.

The curry is characterized by a balance of sweet pineapple tones with warming spice notes, making it a versatile dish that pairs well with plain cooked rice. The texture is creamy with small bits of pineapple and softened onion throughout.

This dish works well as a main served with rice to absorb the sauce. Its combination of tropical fruit and spices creates a mild curry that can appeal to varied palates. Seasoning with salt adjusts the final taste to preference.
