Pineapple Syrup
Description
This Pineapple Syrup recipe combines equal parts sugar, water, and pineapple chunks, which can be fresh, canned, or frozen. The mixture is brought to a boil and then simmered for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse and sugar to dissolve completely. After cooling slightly, the syrup is strained through a fine mesh sieve to remove all pineapple pieces.
The resulting syrup is clear and smooth, carrying the natural sweetness and mild tropical notes of pineapple. Due to simmering, the syrup thickens more as it cools, providing a pleasant viscosity useful for pouring or mixing. This syrup suits cocktails, iced teas, desserts, or sauces where a pineapple essence is desired without added pulp.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar 200g
- 1 cup water 240ml
- 1 cup pineapple chunks fresh, canned or frozen - no need to thaw - 165g
