Pink Lemonade Recipe

This Pink Lemonade recipe combines freshly squeezed lemon juice with a homemade simple syrup and grenadine to create a sweet-tart beverage with its signature pink hue. The balance of sugar and lemon juice offers a refreshing flavor, while grenadine adds color and a mild fruity note. Chilling enhances the taste, making this lemonade suitable for warm days or gatherings.

Description

The Pink Lemonade Recipe mixes lemon juice, granulated sugar dissolved in water to make a syrup, and a variable amount of grenadine for color and subtle flavor. The sugar syrup is made by heating half the water with sugar until dissolved, then cooled. The lemon juice and the remaining water are combined with the syrup and grenadine before chilling, ensuring a well-mixed and refreshing drink.

The flavor is sweet with tart lemon freshness balanced by the syrup’s sweetness, and grenadine contributes a gentle fruity sweetness and rosy color. The texture is smooth and syrupy but light enough to drink easily over ice.

This beverage works well as a party drink or a casual refreshment on warm days. Adjusting grenadine alters the pink color intensity, and sugar quantity can be modified for sweetness level.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 cups water divided
  • 1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1-1/4 cups lemon juice fresh squeezed
  • 2-4 tablespoons grenadine

Instructions

  1. Place half of the water into a medium-size saucepot. Add the sugar and whisk it together. Place over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved. You know the sugar is dissolved when the mixture becomes clear again. Let it cool slightly on the countertop.
  2. To a large pitcher, add the lemon juice, sugar water, the remaining 2 cups water, and grenadine. Stir to combine. Place in the fridge for at least 2 hours to chill and serve over ice.

Notes

  • Grenadine controls the pink color intensity; adjust between 2 to 4 tablespoons according to preference.
  • This lemonade is moderately sweet; reduce sugar by ¼ cup if a less sweet taste is desired.
  • Serve chilled over ice for best refreshment.
