Pinwheel Sandwiches
Description
This recipe assembles pinwheel sandwiches by first blending softened cream cheese with olive oil, red wine vinegar, oregano, basil, and garlic powder to create a flavorful spread. This spread is evenly applied over large flour tortillas, which act as the base for the fillings.
Over the spread, finely shredded romaine lettuce is scattered, followed by thin slices of yellow onion and layers of salami, pepperoni, and ham. The rolled tortillas are tightly wrapped to maintain structure and refrigerated to firm up before slicing. When cut into approximately one-inch pieces, the sandwiches display an attractive spiral of meat, cheese, and greens.
These pinwheels are convenient for serving cold, making them suitable for picnics or parties. The deli meats can be substituted with other favorites according to preference, and while best eaten the same day or next, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to four days.
