Description
Pizza Muffins are made by portioning prepared pizza dough into small balls stuffed with mozzarella cheese and Italian seasoning. These dough balls are placed into a greased muffin tin, topped with pizza sauce, mozzarella, and black olives, then baked until golden. The baking method cooks the dough through while melting the cheese inside, resulting in a soft interior enclosed by a slightly crisp exterior.
The combination of mozzarella and Italian seasoning inside the dough provides familiar pizza flavors in a portable, muffin-sized serving. The sliced black olives add a briny contrast on top. These muffins can be served warm as appetizers, party bites, or a casual snack.
Make sure to let the muffins cool slightly in the tin before removing to maintain their shape and prevent burns. Using avocado oil spray helps prevent sticking without adding flavor that competes with the pizza toppings.
Ingredients

- 1 pound pizza dough prepared
- 1 ½ cup mozzarella cheese divided, shredded
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 2 tablespoons black olives slices
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin with avocado oil spray.
- Divide the prepared pizza dough into 12 equal portions. Take one portion of pizza dough and flatten it into a circle. Place one tablespoon of the mozzarella cheese in the center of the dough and season with some of the Italian seasoning. Pull the edges of the dough up and around the cheese, pinching to seal and form a ball.
- Place the filled dough ball into one of the muffin cups. Repeat this process for the remaining dough, cheese and seasoning.
- Spoon a small amount of pizza sauce over the top of each dough ball, sprinkle with the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese on top and add the black olives.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the pizza muffins are golden brown on top and the dough is fully cooked. Allow the pizza muffins to cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
