Pizza Waffles
Description
Pizza waffles start with refrigerated crescent roll dough cut and joined to form rectangles, each filled with shredded mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices. The dough is folded over and sealed tightly to encase the filling. Cooking them in a preheated waffle iron for about five minutes crisps the outside to a golden brown while melting the cheese inside.
The method creates a unique food form that combines the textures of a waffle's crisp surface with pizza toppings, making it convenient to hold and dip. Pizza sauce served alongside offers traditional pizza flavor in sauce form, enhancing the snack's taste. This recipe is quick to prepare and can be adapted with favorite pizza toppings.
Ingredients
- 1 can crescent rolls 8 pieces, refrigerated
- 1 ⅓ cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- pepperoni or your favorite pizza toppings
- pizza sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat waffle iron and spray with cooking spray.
- Unroll crescent rolls. You will have 8 triangles. Pinch seams to connect 2 triangles so you form 4 rectangles.
- Place ⅓ cup mozzarella cheese and pepperoni in each rectangle. Fold over and pinch to seal all sides. Repeat with remaining sections.
- Place each piece of dough on the preheated waffle iron. Close and cook 5 minutes or until browned.
- Serve warm with pizza sauce for dipping.
