Pomegranate French 75
Description
Pomegranate French 75 starts by shaking together gin, pomegranate juice, and simple syrup over ice until chilled, then straining into champagne glasses. The drink is finished by topping with champagne or a sparkling wine like Prosecco, which adds lightness and bubbles. Pomegranate seeds garnish the cocktail, adding color and a subtle fruitiness.
The simple syrup is homemade by dissolving equal parts sugar and water over gentle heat, cooled before use. The balance of tart pomegranate and sweetness from the syrup complements the botanicals in the gin. This cocktail works well as a celebratory or brunch beverage, offering a fruity, effervescent alternative to the traditional French 75.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces gin (such as Hendrick's)
- 2 ounces pomegranate juice
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- champagne for topping off the drink, or Prosecco
- pomegranate seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the gin, pomegranate juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds until chilled. Strain the mixture into two champagne glasses and top with champagne. Garnish with desired amount of pomegranate seeds.
