Pomegranate Margaritas

Pomegranate Margaritas blend tequila, Grand Marnier, pomegranate juice, lime juice, and simple syrup shaken with ice and served over salt-rimmed glasses. The cocktail balances tart and sweet flavors with citrus brightness and a hint of orange liqueur, garnished with lime slices and pomegranate arils for a festive look and refreshing taste.

Description

This cocktail recipe mixes tequila and Grand Marnier with pomegranate juice and freshly squeezed lime juice, balanced by simple syrup made from equal parts sugar and water. The simple syrup provides sweetness to temper the tartness of the lime and pomegranate.

After rimming the glasses with coarse salt, the ingredients are shaken with ice to chill and blend flavors, then poured over ice in the prepared glasses. Garnishes include lime slices to enhance citrus notes and pomegranate arils for a visual pop and subtle fruit flavor.

The drink offers a festive and balanced margarita variation suitable for casual or special occasions. Adjusting the simple syrup quantity allows taste customization. Making simple syrup ahead and buying lime juice in bulk can ease preparation for larger batches.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 ounces Grand Marnier
  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces pomegranate juice
  • 2 ounce lime juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces simple syrup
  • salt coarse, for the rim
  • lime for garnish
  • pomegranate aril for garnish

Instructions

  1. For simple syrup: combine equal parts sugar and water, bring to a boil and let sugar dissolve, then turn off heat and let cool completely.
  2. Rim the ridge of your glass with a lime wedge and dip in margarita salt. Fill the glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, grand marnier, pom juice, simple syrup and lime juice with ice, and shake for about 30 seconds. Pour over ice and squeeze in extra lime slices. Add some pomegranate arils for decoration.
  3. [This recipe can be easily doubled, quadrupled, etc. Since everyone’s tastes differ, add simple syrup 1/4 cup at a time and go from taste. I also suggest buying the lime juice if you plan on making a pitcher (or 2) considering you’d have to squeeze a billion limes to get enough juice.]
