Potato Salad Recipe

This potato salad combines firm-cooked russet potatoes with finely diced onion, celery, and sweet pickle relish for a textured mix. A mayonnaise-based dressing is blended with ground mustard and salts, thrown together gently with chopped hard-boiled eggs to keep the dish creamy but chunky. It’s chilled for at least two hours to let flavors meld, making it a suitable side dish for picnics or casual meals.

Description

Potato Salad Recipe calls for peeling and chunking russet potatoes and cooking them until tender yet firm to hold their shape. Seasonings including kosher salt, celery salt, and ground mustard blend into a mayonnaise dressing combined with finely diced yellow onion for subtle sharpness. Hard-boiled eggs and diced celery add softness and crunch respectively, while sweet pickle relish introduces a mild sweetness and acidity. Once mixed and chilled for several hours, the salad offers a creamy texture punctuated by crunchy bites.

The dish balances savory, creamy, and tangy notes and the use of ground mustard and celery salt subtly enhances flavor without overpowering. The inclusion of chopped eggs thickens the salad and adds protein, making it more filling. Gentle mixing preserves potato pieces without becoming mushy, giving a pleasantly varied texture.

Prepared ahead and kept cold, this potato salad works well alongside grilled meats or as a hearty stand-alone salad. Careful chilling allows flavors to harmonize while maintaining nice texture contrasts with each bite.
