Powdered Sugar Glaze
Description
The Powdered Sugar Glaze recipe uses powdered sugar as its base with half and half or whipping cream to provide a creamy texture. A pinch of salt balances the sweetness, while vanilla extract adds a delicate flavor nuance. Melted butter is incorporated to contribute richness and a silky finish to the glaze.
The glaze is mixed until smooth and lump-free, with the consistency adjusted by adding more or less cream depending on the intended use—thicker for drizzle or thinner for coating. It can be applied over various baked goods such as cakes, muffins, and cinnamon buns to provide a glossy, sweet topping that complements the underlying flavors without overwhelming them.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar aka confectioners or icing sugar
- 2 tablespoons half and half or whipping cream
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-3 tablespoons butter melted
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a measuring cup and stir together until there are no lumps.
- To adjust the consistency, add more or less cream until desired consistency has been reached.
- Drizzle on cakes, muffins, cinnamon buns and more!
Notes
- Salt can be omitted if using salted butter for easier seasoning control.
