Pull Apart Pigs in a Blanket

Pull Apart Pigs in a Blanket assemble numerous lil’ smokies wrapped individually in pizza dough pieces, arranged vertically in a buttered springform pan, then baked to a golden finish. Served with a white cheddar mustard cheese sauce, the dish offers savory, bite-sized sausage pockets with a pull-apart bread texture complemented by a sharp, tangy cheese dip.

Description

This recipe for Pull Apart Pigs in a Blanket involves rolling pizza dough thin and cutting it into small rectangles to wrap each lil’ smokie sausage securely. The wrapped smokies are packed vertically and snugly in a buttered springform pan to create a loaf shape. The dough rises and bakes to a golden brown crust around each sausage, allowing them to be easily pulled apart.

The accompanying cheese sauce is a classic mustard-cheddar blend made by making a roux with butter and flour, then whisking in milk, whole grain mustard, and shredded white cheddar until smooth. The sauce adds a creamy, tangy layer that contrasts with the savory dough and smoky meat.

Baking times involve first cooking covered to steam through, then uncovered to brown the top. Cooling briefly before removing the loaf helps maintain structure. Serving immediately with the warm cheese sauce makes for a satisfying appetizer or party dish ideal for sharing.
