Pulled Pork Sliders with Cabbage Slaw

Pulled pork is made with a boneless shoulder slowly cooked until fork tender and juicy, served on slider rolls with a crunchy cabbage and herb slaw. The ideal make-ahead meal for serving a crowd or easy weeknight dinner recipe.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

  • 2 pounds pork shoulder (boneless)
  • 1 medium onion (peeled and sliced )
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 ounces beer (or chicken stock)
  • 1 tablespoon habanero hot sauce El Yucateco, Caribbean style

Cabbage Slaw

  • 1 cup green cabbage (shredded)
  • 1 cup red cabbage (shredded)
  • ½ cup red onion (thinly sliced )
  • ¼ cup cilantro (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon habanero hot sauce El Yucateco, Caribbean style
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • slider roll (to serve)

Instructions

Pulled Pork

  1. Add all of the spices to the slow cooker insert and mix well with a fork. Place pork in the slow cooker insert and rub spice mixture evenly on all sides. Scatter onion slices on top then pour in beer or broth and hot sauce. Cover with lid and turn slow cooker on Low for 8 hours or High for 4 hours.
  2. Before serving, carefully shred pork with two forks, discarding any large chunks of excess fat.

Cabbage Slaw

  1. Place all ingredients in a medium bowl and toss well. Check for seasoning and adjust accordingly.

Pulled Pork Sliders

  1. To assemble sliders, split the sliders and fill with pulled pork then top with slaw to serve.
