Pulled Pork-Sriracha Jalapeno Poppers - Recipe

These Pulled Pork-Sriracha Jalapeno Poppers combine spicy pulled pork mixed with Sriracha, chili powder, and garlic stuffed into halved, deseeded jalapenos then topped with cheddar cheese and baked. The result is a mildly spicy, smoky appetizer with creamy melted cheese and a vibrant jalapeno flavor moderated by coring.

Description

The recipe starts with halving and deseeding jalapeno peppers to reduce heat, then a mixture of pulled pork, Sriracha sauce, chili powder, and minced garlic is prepared. This mixture is spooned into each jalapeno half and topped with shredded cheddar cheese.

Placing the stuffed peppers on a lightly oiled baking dish and baking at 350°F melts the cheese and heats the filling. The pulled pork adds savoury, smoky notes, while Sriracha and chili powder provide layered heat. Although coring lessens the pepper's bite, the poppers retain a mild to medium spice level.

Additional extra Sriracha can be drizzled on top before serving for more heat. These poppers make a flavorful finger food or appetizer with a balance of creamy cheese, spicy meat, and fresh jalapeno taste.

The heat factor can be adjusted by including some jalapeno seeds and membranes in the filling or choosing hotter chili powders to suit personal preference.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 10 jalapeno pepper or more as needed
  • 10 ounces pulled pork prepared
  • 3 tablespoons Sriracha sauce plus more for topping
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Slice the jalapeno peppers in half and scoop out the insides. Set aside.
  3. Add the pulled pork to a mixing bowl. Stir in Sriracha, chili powder and garlic. Mix well.
  4. Stuff each jalapeno half with the spicy pulled pork mixture.
  5. Top each with cheese and set onto a lightly oiled baking dish.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat. Top with extra Sriracha, if desired, and serve!

Notes

  • Removing jalapeno seeds and membranes greatly reduces the heat for a milder popper experience.
  • For increased spiciness, include chopped jalapeno inner parts in the pulled pork mixture or select a hotter chili powder.
  • The heat level ranges from mild to medium by default because much of the pepper's heat is removed.
