Pumpkin Chili Recipe

Pumpkin Chili blends ground beef and pork sausage with vegetables such as onion, green pepper, and celery for a hearty base. The addition of canned pumpkin puree adds a subtle richness and depth. The chili incorporates diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beans, and spices like taco seasoning and cumin, resulting in a robust, savory stew with a unique twist from the pumpkin.

Description

Pumpkin Chili starts by browning lean ground beef and pork sausage and then sautéing chopped onions and green peppers. The mixture is combined with celery, garlic, tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, taco seasoning, cumin, and salt. Canned pumpkin puree along with black and kidney beans are added, lending a distinctive texture and slight sweetness without overpowering the chili's hearty flavor.

This chili simmers until vegetables are tender, developing a rich and balanced taste where the pumpkin complements the robust spices and meat. It is served hot and can be garnished with sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions, and tortilla chips to add creaminess and crunch according to preference.

If the chili thickens too much during cooking, adding additional beef broth or water can help achieve the desired consistency without diluting flavors.
