Pumpkin Sheet Cake

Pumpkin Sheet Cake combines canned pumpkin puree and warm spices into a moist cake with a tender crumb. The batter is mixed with sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla, then blended with a spiced flour mixture before baking in a sheet pan. The cake is finished with a generous layer of cream cheese frosting for creamy sweetness that complements the spice.

Description

This recipe uses canned pumpkin puree as the main ingredient, providing moisture and a mild pumpkin flavor. The sugar and oil keep the cake tender while eggs and vanilla add richness. A blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, allspice, and salt is sifted into the flour and baking soda, lending warm spice notes throughout.

The combined batter is baked in a large sheet pan, producing an even, thin cake with a soft texture that holds up well to thick frosting. The cream cheese frosting adds a tangy contrast to the sweet and spiced cake, making this suitable for dessert or festive occasions.

Allowing the cake to cool completely before frosting ensures the frosting sets properly without melting. The sheet cake format is convenient for serving multiple people or casual gatherings.
