Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate combines whole milk, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla heated together before stirring in melted white chocolate. The result is a warm, creamy drink with sweet pumpkin flavor and subtle spice. A whipped cream topping and cinnamon dusting complete the comforting beverage.

Description

Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate is a rich drink prepared by heating milk with pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice, which imparts seasonal flavors throughout the warm base. Once the mixture simmers, chopped white chocolate is added and stirred until melted, producing a smooth, creamy texture with a sweet white chocolate taste enhanced by the pumpkin elements. Vanilla extract adds depth to the overall flavor. The final drink can be finished with whipped cream and a light cinnamon sprinkle for extra appeal.

This hot chocolate variation offers a distinctive twist using pumpkin as a key ingredient, suitable for cool weather when a comforting beverage is desired. It can be made on the stovetop or adapted for slow cooker preparation, allowing for easy warming and serving at gatherings.

The recipe notes suggest an alternative with semi-sweet chocolate and added sugar to adjust sweetness levels according to preference.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 cups whole milk or use a mixture of the two, or half and half
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree canned
  • 1 - 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice (store bought or homemade)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 oz white chocolate chopped

Instructions

  1. To a dutch oven or large saucepan, add milk, pumpkin, spices and vanilla.  Stir and heat over MED-LOW heat.  Heat, stirring often, until mixture comes to a simmer.
  2. Turn off heat, add white chocolate and stir until chocolate has melted.
  3. Carefully ladle into mugs, top with whipped cream and dust with cinnamon if desired.

Notes

  • Add 2-3 tablespoons of sugar to the milk mixture if you prefer a sweeter drink.
  • Semi-sweet chocolate (3-4 oz) can replace white chocolate for a different chocolate flavor.
  • For convenience, prepare in a slow cooker on LOW for 3 hours or HIGH for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
