- 2 tablespoons mirin or sub Chinese cooking wine
- 4 tablespoons light soy sauce I used reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
- 6 teaspoons brown sugar

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 5 garlic cloves minced
- 2 small onion finely chopped
- 800 g /2 lb ground beef lean or extra lean ground beef
- 2 bell peppers yellow, orange or red bell peppers
- 1/2 tsp of ground ginger you can also use fresh ginger
- 1/2 cup green onions sliced, plus more for garnish (optional)

Instructions
- Start by combining the mirin, soy sauces, oyster sauce, and brown sugar in a small bowl. Give it a good stir to ensure everything is well combined.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pot over high heat. Sautee the onions for two minutes. Add the garlic and saute for another minute until it starts to brown.
- Add the beef. Break it up as it cooks. Stir occasionally to ensure even browning.
- Add your chopped bell peppers. Once the beef turns from red to brown, it's ready for the next step.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked beef in the skillet. Let it simmer for another two minutes.
