Description

This Raspberry Lemonade begins by gently heating raspberries, sugar, and a small portion of water to dissolve the sugar and release raspberry juices, breaking down the fruit into a soft mash. The mixture is then strained through a fine-mesh strainer to remove seeds and pulp, providing a smooth syrup base free of solids.

Freshly squeezed lemon juice and the remaining water are added to the raspberry syrup to dilute it to taste, producing a balanced lemonade with sweet, tart, and fruity qualities. Serving the drink chilled or over ice enhances its refreshing character. Optional garnishes such as lemon wedges can add a visual appeal.

Stirring before serving redistributes any settled pulp or fruit particles, ensuring consistent flavor in each glass. The lemonade stores well refrigerated for up to 5 days.

  • 6 cups water divided
  • 8 oz raspberry fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup lemon juice freshly squeezed

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup (236ml) of water with raspberries and granulated sugar in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Stir frequently until sugar is dissolved and raspberries release their juices (raspberries will become very soft and should break into pieces).
  3. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into your pitcher (or into a separate bowl, if it’s not easy to strain directly into pitcher). Use a spoon or spatula to press as much juice through the strainer as possible. Discard remaining seeds.
  4. Add lemon juice and remaining 5 cups (1.2L) water to the pitcher. Stir well.
  5. Serve immediately poured over ice or chill well before serving. Garnish with lemon wedges, if desired. Always stir before serving lemonade.
