Raspberry Simple Syrup Recipe
Description
This syrup starts by combining raspberries, sugar, and water in a pot brought to a boil. The mixture simmers covered for 10 minutes to release raspberry flavor and dissolve sugar. Foam formed on top is skimmed off to prevent cloudiness. Straining the syrup carefully through a fine-mesh sieve without pressing retains clarity and flavor balance.
The resulting syrup preserves the bright taste and aroma of raspberries and can be stored chilled for up to two weeks. It provides a versatile way to add natural fruit sweetness to beverages like lemonades, sodas, iced teas, or dessert toppings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raspberry
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Place the raspberries, sugar, and water into a small pot over high heat.
- Bring the pot to a boil then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and use a spoon to skim off the foam.
- Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve set over a bowl. DO NOT push on the raspberries or the syrup will be cloudy. Let it drain without touching it for at least 5 minutes.
- Transfer the raspberry syrup to a clean, glass jar and store it in your fridge for up to 2 weeks.
