Recipe for Clam Chowder

This Recipe for Clam Chowder combines bacon, celery, onion, garlic, potatoes, and canned clams in a creamy base made from half and half and milk thickened with flour. The Old Bay seasoning adds a distinctive savory note, enhanced by the crispy bacon bits that are stirred in. The chowder has a hearty, chunky texture thanks to diced potatoes and clams, simmered together for flavor melding.

Description

Recipe for Clam Chowder features a base of crisped bacon and sautéed vegetables including celery, onion, and garlic to start. Potatoes, chicken broth, clam juice, and seasonings including Old Bay are simmered until the potatoes soften. A mixture of flour, half and half, and milk is whisked in and cooked until the chowder thickens. Drained canned clams provide the main seafood component without overpowering the rich, creamy broth. The finished chowder balances smoky, savory, and mildly briny flavors with tender potato pieces, making it filling and comforting.

The chowder is served warm and stands as a hearty first course or light main dish. It pairs well with a crusty bread or oyster crackers for scooping.
