Red Currant Mojito

The Red Currant Mojito is a cocktail that blends homemade red currant syrup with white rum, fresh lime juice, mint leaves, and club soda. The syrup is prepared by boiling red currants with sugar and water, then strained to yield a vibrant, fruity base. The drink balances tartness and sweetness with refreshing mint, topped with sparkling club soda for effervescence.

Description

This cocktail features a syrup made by dissolving sugar in water, boiling it briefly with red currants, and mashing to release juices before straining out solids. The resulting syrup offers bright fruit flavor with natural berry tartness and sweetness. For each serving, ice cubes, red currant syrup, lime juice, mint leaves, and white rum are combined and shaken vigorously in a jar. The shaken mixture is then topped with club soda and garnished with fresh mint and red currant sprigs, providing a visually appealing and aromatic drink.

The cocktail highlights the contrast of sweet and tart flavors from the syrup and lime, complemented by the fresh, cooling notes of mint and the sparkle of club soda. It serves as a colorful, fruity variation on the traditional mojito.

Serving immediately ensures the best balance of flavors and freshness, with the mint garnish adding a pleasant aroma that enhances the drinking experience.
