Red Wine Braised Chicken with Mushrooms

Red Wine Braised Chicken with Mushrooms features chicken legs seared and then cooked in a rich sauce made from cremini mushrooms, yellow onions, garlic, chicken broth, and red wine. The slow braising develops tender meat and a deeply flavored reduced sauce, balancing earthy mushroom notes with the acidity of the wine.

Description

This recipe starts by seasoning and searing chicken legs in olive oil to create a golden exterior. After removing the chicken, sliced cremini mushrooms and diced yellow onion are browned in the same pot, then seasoned and combined with minced garlic. Chicken broth is added and simmered until reduced by half, concentrating the base flavors.

Red wine is then poured in, and the chicken is nestled back into the pan to braise gently for 20 to 25 minutes. This slow cooking allows the chicken to become tender while the sauce thickens and intensifies. The resulting dish offers juicy meat accompanied by an earthy, slightly tangy sauce enriched by the mushrooms and aromatic aromatics.
