Restaurant Style Mild Salsa

This Restaurant Style Mild Salsa combines whole plum tomatoes with onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, and cilantro for a fresh, balanced blend of flavors. The blend is pulsed to a texture you can customize, making it smoother or chunkier, and the addition of lime juice adds brightness. Its mild heat and herbaceous notes make it a versatile salsa for dipping or topping Mexican dishes, refrigerated for enhanced flavor after resting.

Description

Using canned whole plum tomatoes and their juices provides a fresh but cooked tomato base for this mild salsa. Onion, garlic, and warm spices like cumin and coriander create depth and gentle heat, balanced by salt, sugar, and lime juice. Fresh cilantro adds a distinctive herbal freshness. The ingredients are processed until reaching the desired consistency, smooth or slightly textured.

After blending, the salsa is refrigerated for at least three hours to allow flavors to meld and develop complexity. The color is bright red with flecks of green from cilantro and bits of onion, while the flavor includes tangy, savory, and subtly sweet elements with a mild spice level.

This salsa suits serving with chips or as a complement to grilled meats and Mexican dishes that call for a fresh, gentle tomato-based condiment. Keeping it chilled enhances its refreshing character. It can be stored for several days in an airtight container.
