Resurrection Rolls

Resurrection Rolls are crescent dough pastries wrapped around marshmallows coated in cinnamon sugar and butter, baked until golden brown. The melted marshmallow inside creates a soft, sweet filling contrasting with the crisp, buttery exterior. These rolls are often made for Easter and can be served with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk or cream to add extra sweetness.

Description

Resurrection Rolls use refrigerated crescent roll dough triangles wrapped around large marshmallows dipped in melted butter and coated in cinnamon sugar. Baking them at 350°F results in a crisp, golden brown exterior with a soft, gooey marshmallow center that melts inside the dough. The cinnamon sugar coating adds a warm spice that complements the sweetness of the marshmallow and buttery dough.

For a neat presentation and to help the rolls hold their shape, some variations suggest placing the wrapped rolls in a muffin tin lined with paper liners and baking seam-side down. After baking, adding a glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with a few tablespoons of milk or cream and almond extract enhances the flavor. This glaze is drizzled over the warm rolls before serving.

Store leftover baked resurrection rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for one to two days to maintain freshness. They are ideal as a sweet treat during Easter celebrations or as a comfort dessert.

Servings
  • 1 (10-ounce) can crescent rolls refrigerated
  • 8 marshmallows large
  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¼ cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with a parchment or silicone liner. Open the crescent roll package and separate the rolls into eight triangles.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk the cinnamon and sugar. Dip each of the marshmallows in the melted butter, then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  3. Place a marshmallow in the middle of each dough triangle, then roll the dough tightly around the marshmallow, pinching to close all of the seams.
  4. Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10-14 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Bake rolls seam-side down in a muffin tin lined with paper liners to help maintain shape.
  • After baking, drizzle with a glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with milk or cream and optional almond extract.
  • Store baked rolls in an airtight container for 1-2 days to keep them fresh.
