Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon

Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon blends tender caramelized sprouts with crisp bacon pieces, enhanced by red onion and garlic. The high-heat roasting caramelizes the vegetables and crisps the bacon strips, creating a balance of savory and slightly spicy flavors from black and red pepper flakes. This side dish offers a rich texture contrast ideal for hearty meals and is finished simply with olive oil and basic seasoning for straightforward preparation.

Description

Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon combines fresh Brussels sprouts halved lengthwise with roughly chopped red onion and garlic cloves. Tossed with olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes, the mix is spread on a foil-lined baking sheet. Thick-cut bacon strips cut into half-inch pieces are scattered evenly atop before roasting at 425°F. This produces sprouts that are tender with browned edges, infused with the smoky, savory flavor of crisp bacon.

The roasting method encourages a slight caramelization on the sprouts and vegetables while rendering the bacon to a crispy texture. The combination of spicy pepper flakes and the sweetness from roasted onion and garlic creates a balanced, robust flavor. The dish pairs well as a side to roasted meats or as part of a casual dinner plate.

This recipe is straightforward with just a few steps and ingredients, allowing the natural flavors to shine. Adjusting salt after roasting is recommended to suit your taste, ensuring the dish remains well seasoned without overwhelming the fresh vegetable character.
