Roasted Garlic in an Air Fryer
Description
Roasted Garlic in an Air Fryer involves minimal preparation: remove the papery skin from garlic heads, trim the tops to expose the cloves, drizzle olive oil, and sprinkle salt. Wrapping the garlic tightly in foil with the cut side up ensures even roasting without drying out. Cooking at 400°F for 20 to 25 minutes softens the cloves until they become sweet, mild, and spreadable.
The texture changes from raw garlic's firmness to a soft paste, removing harsh pungency and allowing the natural sugars to concentrate. This method is convenient for quick roasting compared to an oven, offering a concentrated and versatile ingredient for sauces, spreads, or flavoring recipes needing gentle garlic notes.
Once cooled, the cloves can be squeezed from their skins or peeled gently. The roasted garlic may be used immediately or stored for later use in a sealed container. This method allows control over roast level by adjusting cook time and garlic head size.
Ingredients
- 1 to 2 garlic heads
- 1 to 2 tsp olive oil
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- Remove the paper-thin skin of the garlic.
- Trim the top ¼ inch off the top of the garlic bulb. Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle salt on the cut side.
- Tightly wrap the garlic in the foil. Make sure the cut side of the garlic is facing upwards.
- Air fry at 400F for 20 to 25 minutes. Increase the time for a larger head of garlic. When cool to touch, remove the garlic cloves from the skin and use or store them for later. You can squeeze the cloves out or simply peel the skin off.
