Rosemary Tea

Rosemary Tea is a simple infusion made by steeping fresh rosemary sprigs in boiling water. It produces a herbal tea with a bright, slightly piney flavor that can be enjoyed hot or chilled. The brewing time controls the intensity of the rosemary taste, allowing for a mild or stronger herbal note. Sweetener can be added to taste.

Description

Rosemary Tea uses fresh rosemary sprigs steeped in boiling water to extract herbal oils and aroma. Depending on the steeping time—5 to 10 minutes—the tea can be light or more pronounced in flavor. The method involves covering the pot while steeping to trap the flavors and straining out the rosemary before serving. It can be served warm or cooled and stored for later use.

The flavor profile of rosemary tea is distinctly herbal and aromatic, with a piney, slightly resinous note characteristic of rosemary. Sweetener is optional, allowing drinkers to adjust sweetness or enjoy the herbal flavor plain.

Covering the pot while steeping preserves volatile aromatics and ensures a more balanced extraction. Removing the rosemary sprigs after steeping prevents bitterness. This tea is a straightforward, caffeine-free infusion that highlights rosemary's distinctive flavors.

  • 1 large rosemary sprig, fresh
  • 4 cups water
  • Sweetener, to taste (optional)

Notes

  • Adjust rosemary quantity based on desired flavor intensity: more sprigs for stronger taste, less for milder tea.
  • Keep the pot covered while steeping to retain aromatic oils and flavors.
  • Use a fine mesh strainer to remove rosemary sprigs for a clear tea.
