Saint Nick Special Cocktail
Description
The cocktail combines freshly brewed hot coffee with whiskey and Irish cream liqueur, enriched by a spoonful of warm homemade hot fudge sauce. The mug rimmed in hot fudge is topped with whipped cream, marshmallows, crushed peppermint, and a touch of flaked salt, which highlights the flavors and adds a festive touch. This mixture provides a blend of bittersweet chocolate, creamy liqueur, and warming alcohol, fitting as a seasonal or holiday drink.
The hot fudge sauce is prepared by slowly cooking powdered sugar, full-fat coconut milk, unsalted butter, and dark chocolate together, stirring until the mixture heats through and thickens. Once cooled slightly, it retains a smooth, velvety texture suitable for stirring into the coffee or rimming glasses.
For a cold version, cold brew or cold coffee is stirred with whiskey and Irish cream then poured over ice, maintaining the same layering of flavors and toppings. The hot fudge rim and whipped cream remain, making it a refreshing yet indulgent cocktail for colder months or festive gatherings.
