Salsa Picante

Report
Salsa Picante combines tomatoes, jalapeños, onion, garlic, cilantro, and lime juice blended into a chunky and vibrant sauce. It offers a spicy and tangy flavor profile typical of Mexican salsas, with a balance of heat from the jalapeños and brightness from the lime juice. The recipe includes heating the salsa briefly to deepen the color and meld flavors, but it can also be served fresh for a juicier texture.

Description

Salsa Picante is prepared by blending fresh tomatoes, jalapeños to control the heat level, onion, garlic, cilantro, and lime juice until smooth but still containing a few chunks for texture. The fresh ingredients provide a bright and lively flavor, anchored by the acidity of lime and the slight pungency of raw garlic. The jalapeño's heat adds a moderate spiciness that can be adjusted based on taste preferences.

After blending, the salsa is simmered briefly to intensify its color and allow the flavors to meld. This heating step enriches the overall taste and develops a deeper red hue, though serving it immediately without warming retains a fresher, juicier quality. The final salsa is versatile, complementing burritos, tacos, eggs, or used as a salad dressing.

Adjust the amount of jalapeño or cilantro based on your tolerance and preference, and consider adding more lime juice for extra zest if desired. The salsa keeps well chilled and can be stored for several days.
