Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew

This Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew combines homemade cold brew coffee with caramel sauce, vanilla syrup, and a pinch of sea salt. It’s topped with a creamy cold foam made from half and half and caramel, adding a rich texture and balanced sweetness with a hint of saltiness. The drink offers a smooth, indulgent coffee experience served chilled, ideal for coffee lovers seeking a flavored cafe-style beverage at home.

Description

The recipe starts by steeping coarse ground coffee in cold water for 18 to 24 hours, creating a smooth cold brew concentrate. This concentrate is mixed with most of the caramel sauce to infuse sweetness and caramel flavor. A separate cold foam is prepared by combining half and half, caramel sauce, vanilla syrup, and sea salt, then whipped until frothy using a French press or blender.

Served over ice, the cold brew is topped with the salted caramel cream foam which slowly swirls into the coffee, layering texture and flavor. The salt balances the sweetness, enhancing the caramel notes without overpowering them.

The drink can be customized with different flavored syrups in place of vanilla or by using decaf cold brew for a gentler caffeine impact. The cold foam is best prepared immediately before serving to maintain its texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup cold brew coffee
  • 2 ½ tablespoons caramel sauce divided
  • ½ cup half and half
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Syrup
  • teaspoon salt sea salt

Instructions

  1. Make the cold brew coffee: Stir coarse ground coffee into cold water. Cover and refrigerate for 18 - 24 hours. Strain through cheesecloth and store the coffee in a clean jar or pitcher, covered, in the fridge until ready to use. It should last up to 2 weeks.
  2. Set aside 1 teaspoon of the caramel. Stir the remaining caramel sauce into the cold brew until combined.
  3. In a French press, or blender, add the half-and-half, remaining caramel, vanilla syrup and salt. Plunge up and down to create cold foam, or briefly pulse the blender to create foam.
  4. Add ice to a glass with the caramel coffee and spoon on some cold foam. It will swirl down into the coffee.

Notes

  • Prepare the caramel coffee base ahead, but whip the cold foam just before serving for best texture.
  • Substitute vanilla syrup with other flavored syrups like Biscoff, Chai, or Rose for variety.
  • Cold regular coffee can replace cold brew if desired.
  • Decaf cold brew works well for a less caffeinated version.
