Ingredients
- 8 lices sandwich bread (see recipe notes)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 8 lices cheddar or Gouda cheese (see recipe notes)
- 8 lices cooked ham York ham (see recipe notes)
- 2 large tomato thinly sliced.
- 1 large red onion thinly sliced
Instructions
1. Cut the crust
- Cut the crust off the bread slices.
2. Assemble sandwich
- Spread each slice of bread with butter on one side. Top that side with a slice of cheese.Top one slice with ham, tomato, and onion (optional). Put both halves together.
3. Toast
- In a sandwich press or frying pan, toast the bread by pressing until the bread browns and the cheese melts.
4. Serving
- Cut the sandwiches into two triangles each (optional) and serve. See serving suggestions on the recipe.
