Santa Pancakes

Report
Santa Pancakes are thick, American-style pancakes decorated to resemble Santa Claus using fresh fruit, cream, and chocolate chips. The pancakes have a fluffy texture, and the toppings form distinctive features like the beard, hat, eyes, and nose, making a playful and festive breakfast option during the holiday season.

Description

This recipe combines self-raising flour and baking powder to create a batter mixed with egg, vegetable oil, and whole milk. Cooking the batter in a frying pan produces pancakes about 8 inches across, thick and fluffy. The decoration uses raspberries and strawberries to form Santa's hat and nose, squirty cream for the beard and lower hat, and chocolate chips for eyes.

The pancakes' soft texture contrasts with the fresh fruit's juiciness and the cream's smoothness, resulting in a visually engaging and tasty dish. This playful presentation suits holiday breakfasts or brunches with a festive touch.

Alternatives include swapping strawberries for other fruits or adding vanilla to the batter to enhance flavor. The recipe makes about four pancakes but can yield more if made thinner.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 200 g self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 350 ml milk whole
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Mix together 200 g Self-raising flour and 1 teaspoon Baking powder.
  2. Whisk 1 Egg, 1 teaspoon Vegetable oil and 350 ml Whole milk together, then add to the flour and mix into a batter.
  3. Heat some butter or oil in a large frying pan and add a ladle of the mixture in to make a pancake (about 8 inch across). Cook for 3 mins each side. Repeat this 4 times.
  4. Use the squirty cream to draw a beard and the bottom of Santa's hat. Then use raspberries and strawberries for the hat, nose and mouth and then chocolate chips for eyes.

Notes

  • This recipe yields roughly four thick pancakes but can produce more if thinner pancakes are preferred.
  • Slices of strawberries can replace the chosen fruits for the hat decoration.
  • Vanilla extract may be added to the batter for extra flavor if desired.
  • For fewer calories, banana slices can substitute the cream beard.
