Sausage Cream Cheese Dip
Description
The dip begins by browning breakfast sausage in olive oil in a skillet, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Excess grease is drained to prevent greasiness. Then cream cheese cubes and undrained Rotel tomatoes are stirred into the hot sausage over low heat until the cream cheese melts and combines into a smooth, creamy texture. The diced tomatoes with green chiles add mild spiciness and moisture.
The dip is garnished with fresh diced tomatoes and canned green chiles before serving warm alongside chips for dipping. It offers a creamy, slightly tangy flavor with savory sausage and a subtle kick from the chiles.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 14.5 ounce ROTEL
- 16 ounces cream cheese cut into pieces
- tomato diced, for garnish
- green chiles for garnish, canned diced
- Chips for serving
Instructions
- Drizzle the olive oil into a medium-sized skillet and place over medium heat.
- Once the skillet is heated, add the sausage. Cook until browned, breaking apart the meat as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease and return to the stovetop, lowering the heat to medium-low.
- Add the cream cheese cubes and Rotel (don't drain). Stir frequently until the cream cheese is completely melted and the dip is evenly combined.
- Top with diced tomatoes and green chiles before serving warm with your favorite dipping chips.
