Sauteed Garlic Butter Mushrooms

Sauteed Garlic Butter Mushrooms combine fresh mushrooms sautéed in butter with minced garlic and herbs like thyme. The result is tender, browned mushrooms with a rich, buttery garlic flavor and an aromatic herb finish. This simple preparation highlights the natural earthiness of mushrooms.

Description

The mushrooms are cooked slowly over medium heat in butter until browned and very tender, releasing their moisture and concentrating flavors. The addition of both minced garlic and garlic powder layers the garlic essence without overpowering. Herbs such as fresh thyme or substitutes like dried Italian seasoning complement the mushrooms with an aromatic note.

This dish can be served as a side or topping, adding rich umami and fragrant garlic to any meal. Seasoning with salt and pepper enhances the natural mushroom flavor and the butter's richness. The recipe emphasizes freshness for best results but allows dried herbs if fresh are unavailable.

The mushrooms are best served immediately to enjoy their tender texture and vibrant garlic aroma.

Notes

  • Herbs de Provence is a great alternative to fresh thyme or Italian seasoning in this recipe.
  • Taste before adding salt if using salted butter to avoid over-seasoning.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
