Ingredients

  • 1 pound mushrooms sliced (white, brown, cremini, or portabella)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme or 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, fresh leaves
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • chive chopped for garnish (optional, fresh

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms by gently wiping them with a paper towel. Slice into 1/2-inch thick pieces.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the butter is melted and foamy.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet, spreading them out evenly. Cook without stirring for 4 to 5 minutes until the mushrooms begin to brown on one side.
  4. Stir the mushrooms and add the minced garlic and thyme. Continue to cook for another 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are golden brown and tender.
  5. Season the mushrooms with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped chives if desired before serving.
